Sunday March 14,2011
By: Denise L Young

In my fashion journey I can say that I been though the good and bad in my life. I love all fashion mostly the classy and chic styles, that I am mostly drawn to. One of my favorite
people in the world and people that I relate to is Kimora Lee Simmons. Not only are we from the same city St. Louis, but I relate to her style, hard work ethic and her out going and bigger than life personality. Kimora Lee Simmons is an American fashion model, author, and the president and Creative Director for Phat Fashions. Formerly the Creative Director of Baby Phat, Simmons became CEO of Phat Fashions after ex-husband Russell Simmons stepped down. A 2007 reality television show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, focuses on her life as a mother and CEO of Phat Fashions. She has appeared in music videos and was a judge on the first season of America's Next Top Model. She is a woman a vision and I love her to death!

Kimora also has written a book, "Fabulosity: What It Is and How to Get It", a how-to handbook for those of us who have lost the phone number for our Inner Goddess. This is a book that I had to read for my internship and I highly recommend this must read for any women that wants to get sassy advice, from smart tips on how to manage your money, your man and your wardrobe, including nuggets of advice such as , "White diamonds and platinum is a classic jewelry combo; it never goes out of style." Oh really, LOL! You can watch Kimora on her new season of Life in the Fab Lane on the Style Network and grab information on Mrs. Simmons book, and business at her website at www.kimoraleesimmons.com

Designer Spotlight

Spotlight

During my time interning with Bravo Reality star Reco Chapple from " The Fashion Show" I have learned a lot about the business in a short time thus far. One of my duties as a intern is to learn other designers work as well as my boss. I am really excited about the learning the mechanics , the buz and ready to learn what I can about the industry at hand. One of my designers on my list is the great Tracy Reese.

Tracy Reese was born on February 12, 1964 in Detroit, MI ranks as on of the fashion industry's most successful African American women whose realm is not relegated to the runway. In a business where few designer labels seem to make it past their fifth anniversary, Reese has two clothing lines, TR and Plenty, which have been sold at Nordstrom,Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and other top retailers since the mid- 1990s. Her company's sales topped $12million in 2003, and it launched a Pelenty-label home line that same year and a footwear collection the following. Reese has an unerring eye for what women will buy.

Reese attended Cass Technical High School public school in Detroit school system. There students forcus on the arts or academics. Later, she attended New York's Parson School of Design. In the early 1990 ,Reese won the head designer with a new label called Magaschoni. It was the owner that produced clothes for Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and other well-known names. When I wake up I immediately, turn the TV on and get ready for the news and my morning shows. My favorite morning show besides the View is on FOX called “Wendy Williams Show,”

which comes on at 10 in Atlanta. Wendy is funny and witty in her opinion of Hot Topics, but today her show was about Spring fashion which is my job, “HOW YOU DOING?”
Today her star guess was Molly Ringwald! She starred in classic 80’s films like “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles” which I love these films! The late director John Hughes died recently and will surely be missed! Later in the show celebrity fashion expert Tai Beauchamp gives us the scoop on the hottest items in fashion.

Affordable and chic

Be Sexy in any City you are in: Sarah Jessica Parker

One of my favorite fashion forward women that always in my opinion wear cute and chic clothing is Sarah Jessica Parker. No matter is she is on the red carpet, or in a movie, you can believe that eyes are on what she is wearing. Sarah Jessica Parker (born March 25, 1965) she is an American film, television and theatre actress, and producer. She is best known for her leading role as Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO television series Sex and the City, for which she won four Golden Globe Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Emmy Awards. She played the same role in the 2008 feature film version of the show, Sex and the City: The Movie and its sequel, Sex and the City 2, scheduled to open on May 28, 2010.
When I lived in Nashville last year one of my favorite stores to go to was Steve & Barry’s located in Hickory Hollow Mall in Antioch Tennessee. This was a store that was owned by Steve Barry the professional athletic turned entrepreneur. Sarah Jessica Parker had a clothing and accessory line in this store. I just loved her clothing line for under $20.When you think of Sarah Jessica Parker -- fashion maven and queen of high-ticket, high-heel ($500) pumps -- now advocates "affordable fashion," according to the June 8 edition of People.com it should make you happy! "You should be able to have affordable, quality fashion," the actress told PEOPLE.Parenting Magazine offered this review of Bitten launched in 2008 and recently named the line one of its top editor's picks. Here's a short snippet of the review."While everything styling', nothing in the line costs more than $20. And the sizes range from 0 to 22, so you'll get a great fit for your body, not just your budget. ($20 and under; available at: Steve & Barry's stores nationwide.Since then the stores of closed)."The Budget Fashionista has also been tracking this thrifty line from Parker. If you have any questions or want to find out about Mrs. Parker you can go to her website sarahjessiaparker.com or people.com for the latest news on this actress.

This is one of Sarah Jessica Parker outfit for under $50.

Sarah Jessica Parker at the 2010 Oscars this year. Most critics did not like this gown that she wore, but I liked some parts of it! I would have like to see her in something else! She loved lovely on the Red Carpet.

Sarah Jessica Parker traded in her carefree blonde curls for smooth brown waves to accent her strapless Dior Couture gown and Fred Leighton diamonds. I love this dress.
